The Iron have the chance to make it seven league wins in a row on Saturday when they visit Walsall, which would equal a club record.
Defender Cameron Burgess is confident United will bounce back from their recent cup losses (to Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup and Leicester City Under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy).
He discussed recent matches, the opposition and his November award nomination in an interview with iFollow Iron.
ON BOUNCING BACK FROM THE CUP DEFEATS…
CB: You focus on each game as it comes but after the last two results we are desperate to put things right in the league. We have to go and do that on Saturday.
ON BEING ABLE TO EQUAL THE CLUB RECORD OF SEVEN LEAGUE WINS ON THE BOUNCE…
CB: First and foremost, it acts as motivation for us to go and win the game but to be able to get in the record books is great to see as well. Hopefully we can go and do that.

ON WALSALL’S SEASON SO FAR…
CB: As we know anyway, any team can go and beat anyone. However, we have to go and play our own game. That’s the most important thing that we can do. Hopefully, we go and do that on Saturday and put in a good performance.
ON THE THREAT OF ERHUN OZTUMER…
CB: I’ve played against him a few times. He’s a tricky little guy but hopefully we can nullify that. Like I said before, it’s about what we do first and foremost. We will play our game and hopefully that will take care of itself.
ON HIS NOMINATION FOR PLAYER OF THE MONTH…
CB: It’s not something that you think about until it happens. It was nice to be nominated in that way. I suppose it must have been because I scored a couple of goals. It’s good as it shows that the team is playing well, so I am really happy. The fact that Duane (Holmes) and Gillo (Matt Gilks) have been nominated is a good sign as well.
ON WHAT IT MEANS FOR THE TEAM TO HAVE PLAYERS AND THE MANAGER NOMINATED FOR AWARDS…
CB: We’ve had some good results and it currently looks good in the league. We’ve started to climb up there and hopefully we can stay there and then push on a bit further.
ON THE BUSY FESTIVE PERIOD…
CB: More games offer more of a chance to catch those teams above us and hopefully we can go and do that. We haven’t played Walsall or Southend yet so hopefully we can get good results against them.
ON JUST HAVING THE LEAGUE TO FOCUS ON…
CB: It would have been really nice to have a cup run. Those big tournaments that you play in are something that you look forward to. We have to deal with what we have got now. We have to put things right in the league and concentrate on that.
ON BEING A PART OF THE STARTING ELEVEN…
CB: Time flies when you’re playing a bit more. I’m loving it. Looking back at who has played from the start of the season, it has showed that we have a competitive squad.
