Funso Ojo believes the 4-0 win at Plymouth Argyle was not just a great result but an indicator of where his side's season is heading.

Alexander's Plymouth reaction

26 August 2017

Ojo played a part in an impressive all-round team performance, as United won through goals from Paddy Madden (two), Tom Hopper and Josh Morris.

In an interview with iFollow Iron, the 25-year-old also commented on the approach to Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy home game against Sunderland, and why Paddy Madden should be thanking him for his brace on Saturday.

ON THE RESULT…
FO: I feel good and I’m definitely happy with the result. Four goals and a great performance from our side. I can’t ask for better than that. It definitely makes it easier to travel back for six hours.

ON PADDY MADDEN’S ENTRANCE TO THE TOP 10 ALL-TIME IRON GOALSCORERS…
FO: I’m happy for him but I think he needs to thank me a little bit! I’m his new roommate and I made sure that he had a good night’s rest. I’m expecting a dinner either Saturday or Sunday for that. I've told him that he needs to thank me.

ON THE IRON’S NEW LEAGUE POSITION…
FO: It’s very important because everyone knows what our goals are for the end of the season. We want to be up there in the top six and to stay up there we need to be getting results every week. Therefore, this win was very important to our season.

"We’ve always been on track as we are unbeaten in the league."

ON THE SCORELINE…
FO: We had a long trip ahead of the game and you’re never sure of how you are going to react to the heavy legs from the trip. However, once the game started I thought that we were the better team. If I wasn’t told that they were in League Two last season then I wouldn’t have known because they were a good team that really wanted to play good football.

ON MOVING ON TO THE CHECKATRADE TROPHY…
FO: It’s easy (to move on) as we start again every game. Anything can happen in a cup game and we saw that against Notts County. We just need to start again and take every game as it comes.

ON REACHING THEIR TARGETS…
FO: We’ve always been on track as we are unbeaten in the league. Some people may have seen our early form as the glass being half-empty but I see it as the glass being half-full. I try and see everything as a positive.
