Having reflected on Tuesday’s loss to Middlesbrough, Duane Holmes believes there are some positives to take from it and into Plymouth.
The 22-year-old winger has grabbed two goals so far during this season and earned his first start in the Carabao Cup second round.
Holmes told iFollow Iron he wants to carry on working for the team and he is confident that Scunthorpe can beat anyone on their day.
ON TUESDAY’S RESULT AT MIDDLESBROUGH…
DH: It was a very tough game and they were a great side. However, we applied ourselves very well and got into some good positions. Unfortunately though, it wasn’t meant to be.
ON BREAKING INTO THE FIRST TEAM…
DH: Everyone wants to play and it’s credit to the lads to be able to keep people out of the team and have people pushing for places as everyone has been playing well. As long as the team is doing well then no-one can complain.
"It’s always nice to score but it’s all about the team. It’s about getting as many points as we can at this stage of the season."
ON SCORING IN PREVIOUS GAMES…
DH: It’s always nice to score but it’s all about the team. It’s about getting as many points as we can at this stage of the season. We’ve been alright so far and we’re unbeaten in the league so we are looking to build on Saturday.
ON CONTRIBUTING TO THE IRON’S FIRST LEAGUE WIN…
DH: It’s always good to get the first win and it always helps to be at home. We were really strong at home last year and so hopefully we can do the same again.
ON PLYMOUTH ARGYLE…
DH: We know that it will be a hard game. All of the teams that came up and down are quite strong and we are looking forward to facing them. We know that they are a good team with quality in their ranks. However, it’s about us so as long as we do what we are good at then I’m confident that we will get a result.
ON DEALING WITH THE HIGH QUANTITY OF GAMES…
DH: This is how it works out at the start of the season. Having Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday is something that we are used to as players. There’s nothing better than playing games and so I’m looking forward to it.
