Thomas enjoys exclusive pre-match tour

19 April 2017

Young Iron fan Thomas Boothby enjoyed enjoyed a pre-match behind-the-scenes tour ahead of Easter Monday's 3-1 victory over Chesterfield.

Thomas, who attends Bottesford Infants School, arrived with his mum and two sisters Abby and Rosie, and were allowed access behind the scenes to see what goes on prior to a Scunthorpe United matchday, viewing the executive boxes, the directors box and dugout. Thomas then got access to the areas closed off to the public - visiting the home dressing room, boot room and press room - as well as the gym.

Thomas predicted that United would beat the Spireites 6-2, with Paddy Madden to score - with the youngster half way there to the correct scoreline.

His mum Sally said: “A huge thanks for the experience, Thomas really enjoyed himself. It's a shame he didn't predict the correct score, but he was half way there!

"Many thanks once again for this great opportunity."

Arriving in the home dressing room, the five-year-old and his sisters got pictures and autographs with the Iron team before taking a look at the club's gym facilities. He then returned to the dressing room to meet his favourite player Paddy Madden.

To top of his day with the club, Thomas welcomed the teams onto the pitch as one of our six flag bearers on the day before cheering on the Iron to three points which secured at least a play-off place.
