United full back Scott Wiseman was a part of history on Tuesday as he played 90 minutes in Gibraltar's 4-1 defeat against Greece.
In what was his ninth cap, Wiseman faced a side which included Benfica striker Kostas Mitroglou and Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos in Faro, Portugal for the countries first-ever FIFA World Cup Qualifier.Mitroglou broke the deadlock after ten minutes but Liam Walker restored parity for the side, netting their first goal in a qualifier, with the Iron's Wiseman collecting the assist from the goal.
Seemingly on the way to the break in deadlock, the Greeks turned up the gas and netted three goals ahead of the interval, with Wiseman inadvertently putting the ball into his own net as he defended a low cross. Kostas Fortounis and Vasilis Torosidis netted moments later to complete the scoring.
Gibraltar next take on Estonia in next month's international break on October 7 before hosting Belgium on October 10; both in World Cup qualifiers.
