TURNBULL RETURNS AS HEAD OF RECRUITMENT

13 September 2016

The Iron can confirm Lee Turnbull has returned to the club as Head of Recruitment.

The 48-year-old comes back to Glanford Park after leaving Oldham Athletic, with the former Middlesbrough, Doncaster and Chesterfield player initially leaving the club to join Sheffield United as chief scout last summer.

While a player at Scunthorpe he scored seven goals in a near-half century of appearances for the club.

Chief Executive Officer James Rodwell said: "We're delighted to have Lee back with us at the football club. We didn't want to lose him to Sheffield United in the first instance but we understand that, at the time, it was an exciting new opportunity for him and one that was hard to turn down.

"Now he's back with us at Scunthorpe United, we are looking forward to working with him once more going forward."

After a short tenure as Head of Recruitment, the Iron can confirm that George Dixon has left his position at the club.

George said: "It became apparent quite quickly that I would be unable to fulfil this role to the best of my ability and to the standards I expect from myself, due to the high volume of travelling from my home in the north east.

"In the short time in which I was at the club, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and wish everyone at the club all the best for the future."

CEO James Rodwell added: "I'd like to place on record my thanks to George who, in his short time with us, introduced us to a regional scouting network which I'm sure we will benefit from going forward.

"Having listened to George, we accepted the reasons for his resignation and look forward to welcoming him to Glanford Park and wish him all the very best for his future endeavours."
