United goalkeeper Luke Daniels believes Walsall will provide a difficult obstacle to negotiate.Scunthorpe face the Saddlers at the Banks's Stadium on Tuesday night, and Daniels says the visitors will be looking for nothing but three points from the game.
Daniels told The Iron PlayerHD: “They’ve had a big changeover in the squad, so it’ll have taken them a bit of time to gel, but we’re expecting a tough test.
“There are no easy games in this league. We’re not taking it lightly, and we’re going to go down there and put pressure on ourselves to get a win.”
The ‘keeper also had a chance to cast his mind back to the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United and, having had chance to reflect, he feels the result was probably the correct one.
While admitting it was frustrating to concede twice, Daniels doesn’t think it’s any cause for concern.
“Obviously it ended being up quite disappointing really, once we’d got ourselves into a strong position. However, a draw was probably a fair result on the balance of the game,” he stated.
“There are always things to work on. Obviously it was a well-worked free-kick for their first, but we’re asking can we do better to try and prevent that?
“Then can we stop the ball getting into the box for the penalty? So, like I said, there are always things to work on, and it’s disappointing, but it’s nothing that can’t be sorted.”
Speaking about the team’s beginning to the season, and more specifically the defence, the former West Brom man says he’s been really pleased to see things carry on seamlessly from the end of the previous campaign.
“I think we’ve carried on from how we’ve finished last year really, which is really pleasing. We know we’ve got good players, and the players that are coming into the team are doing really well,” he continued.
“It must be difficult for the gaffer to leave players out. We know we have got strength in depth, and we have done really well so far.
“When we’re out at training, everyone is doing their job properly, and we do take even keeping the ball out of the net in training really seriously.”
