The Iron welcome Southend United to Glanford Park this Saturday, as they look to continue their strong start to the League One campaign.
United currently sit fifth in the table, but a win against the Shrimpers could see them rise as high as second place if results go their way.Southend on the other hand have struggled for form in the opening six games, winning just one so far - but did manage to take a point off league leaders Bolton Wanderers last weekend.
Graham Alexander says there is only one fresh injury concern ahead of Saturday’s encounter, with Jonathon Margetts facing a battle to be fit, after sustaining a dead leg whilst at his former club, Lincoln City.
Apart from that, the Iron boss says he’s got near enough a full squad to choose from, following an extended rest period.
The Iron’s most recent success against Southend came in February of this year, as Paddy Madden fired his side to all three points in a one-sided encounter at Glanford Park.
The home side were dominant throughout, and got themselves ahead in the 11th minute, thanks to Madden’s 17th of the season - a close range header.
Scunthorpe would have been out of sight if they hadn’t found Daniel Bentley in inspired form, with the Shrimpers’ stopper frustrating United on a number of occasions.

Striker Simon Cox joined Southend following his release from Championship side Reading in the summer, to add firepower to the Shrimpers’ frontline.
Prior to joining Phil Brown’s side, the 29-year-old had scored 91 goals in 255 club starts - three of those in a hat-trick against the Iron whilst playing for Swindon Town in 2008.
He’s so far managed to find the net two times for his new club, getting on the scoresheet in matches against Sheffield United and Bristol Rovers respectively.
