AUSTIN ADDED TO ACADEMY STAFF

8 September 2016

The Iron's academy are delighted to announce the appointment of Kevin Austin as Youth Development Phase Lead Coach.

The 43-year-old joins forces with Tony Daws, Nev Burbeary, Rob Watson and the rest of the academy set-up following the departure of Tony Mee.

Kevin enjoyed a long, illustrious career himself which spanned from 1992 where he began at Saffron Walden Town before having spells with the likes of Leyton Orient, Lincoln City and Swansea City before retiring twenty years after he turned professional - in 2012.

He was eligible to play for both England and Trinidad and Tobago, opting to play for the latter on seven occasions.

Over his career, he played for twelve different clubs, making over 500 appearances, scoring six goals.

Academy manager Tony Daws said: "We would like to place on record our thanks to Tony for his efforts over the past six months since he joined us.

"We would also like to welcome Kevin to the club and look forward to working with him going forward."
