DANIELS READY FOR ANOTHER TOUGH GAME

7 October 2016

Goalkeeper Luke Daniels is expecting a stern test when Northampton Town come to Glanford Park this weekend.

Daniels stated the hosts will have to be at their maximum to take something from the game, but added he’s confident of getting a result.

Speaking to The Iron PlayerHD, Daniels said: “It’ll be another tough game, they’re up at the top end of the league.

“They’re going to be tough to break down, so it’s a game we’re going to have to be at our best in again. In saying that, it’s another challenge we’re looking forward to.

“You’ve got to look at the other teams in terms of little things they might be looking to do, but the most important thing is us playing how we have been doing. There are only going to be a few times where that might not be enough on the day but, in general, we’re more than a match for anyone in this league.”

Heading into the match, the Scunthorpe stopper says there’s a great atmosphere in the changing room because of the great start to the new campaign.

“The mood in the camp is really good, it has been all season,” he stated.

“When you start well and you win games, it’s a good place to come into work. You know that you’re rolling into the next game on the back of a decent result, so we are really positive.”

It’s a buoyant mood which was added to, thanks to the midweek success over Shrewsbury Town in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Daniels was adamant that, no matter what tournament the Iron play in, they look to win - as it’s something which breeds confidence within the camp.

“We’ve got to take each game as it comes and keep the run going really, so it doesn’t matter what competition it is - it’s good to get another win,” he insisted.

“It gave the lads who haven’t had as much football the chance to play games, which is good for the squad. As a group we are winning games and keeping up the good form.

“Shrewsbury played pretty much a full strength side, so the fact we can make a lot of changes and still comfortably beat them shows how far we’ve come as a squad.”
