BIG MATCH PREVIEW: IRON v MK DONS

14 October 2016

The Iron welcome MK Dons to Glanford Park, as they look to retain their spot at the top of the League One.

Graham Alexander’s side were left frustrated last weekend when they drew 1-1 at home to Northampton Town, but the Scunthorpe boss will be hoping for all three points this time around.

The Dons are sure to be a tough test though, having only recently dropped down from the Championship.

Injuries wise, Alexander says doesn’t have too many concerns praying on his mind, with him highlighting that Luke Williams and Jordan Clarke are the only players who’ll miss out this weekend.

Alexander revealed that Williams is a little closer to returning than Clarke, but still insisted that they’ll both not feature for a couple of weeks at least.

Two strikes from Will Grigg inside the first five minutes sealed a 2-0 victory for Karl Robinson’s men the last time the two sides met.

It was a tough night at stadium:mk for the Iron, who fell behind after 81 seconds when the Northern Ireland international tucked away a rebound.

Four minutes later Grigg doubled his tally from the penalty spot, following a foul on Deli Alli by ‘keeper Luke Daniels.

Having joined the club in 2011, Dean Bowditch has gone on to to be a permanent feature in the Dons’ starting eleven.

He’s almost racked up 200 appearances for Robinson’s side, and has also found the net over 30 times.

Once used out wide, the former Yeovil man now operates more centrally and it’s proved it worth, with him scoring five times already in the campaign.
