Charlie Goode wants to take the momentum generated by Tuesday night’s win over Peterborough into this weekend’s clash with Oxford.

The centre-back knows the threats the U’s will pose, but stated the Iron have plenty of their own.

Goode told The Iron PlayerHD: “It’s going to be a tough game, like every game in this league is. We just want to carry on where we left off on Tuesday.

“We’re confident going into all games, but we know the opposition are going to be tough.

“We’ll focus on ourselves and hopefully get another win.”

That 2-0 success at the ABAX Stadium in midweek proved the quality in the squad Goode believes is present, and he went onto say that it was a major hurdle that was negotiated.

“I thought it was a very good win in the end, that’s a tough place to go and I think a few teams could drop points there,” he explained.

“In the second half we knew they were going to come at us, with deliveries into the box. However, I felt we dealt with it well all night.”

The Iron defender made another league start against the Posh, picking up another clean sheet in the process.

When asked about his run in the side, Goode stated that he just wants to keep progressing and developing, whilst helping the team win in the process.

“I’m loving it,” Goode, who has helped keep four successive clean sheets in all competitions, stated.

“I want to play as much as I can this year and play a part. Now I’m getting a chance in the side, I want to keep getting clean sheets and take it.

“For all of the defenders our aim is clean sheets, as well as it starting from the front with the pressing that we do.

“That’s what we want as a team, and I think if we can keep carrying on getting clean sheets we’ll win a lot of games.”
