The winning player will be announced at 6am on Friday morning.
Here is what the judging panel had to say about the four nominees:
Luke Williams (Scunthorpe United) – winger
Able to use his natural attacking instincts even from his role on the wing to inspire Scunthorpe’s promotion push in April. Happy to take on defenders or find his way into central positions as he did to score three goals in the month.
Will Grigg (Wigan Athletic) – striker
A second successive nomination for the 24-year-old after his seven goals in six games helped to seal Wigan’s promotion to the Championship. His predatory instincts were on show with the braces he poached against Shrewsbury Town and Southend United.
Curtis Main (Oldham Athletic) - striker
His movement across the front line led defenders a merry dance, while he scored the only goal in crucial wins over Walsall and Southend United. Four goals in his side’s tally of seven proved vital in securing Oldham’s League 1 status.
Byron Webster (Millwall) – central defender
A central figure in a Millwall defence missing the experienced Tony Craig. Allied his organisational nous and positional sense at the back to his knack for scoring headers at the other end with three goals at set pieces in April.
The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
