TRUST RECEIVE COMMUNITY SHIELD DISTRIBUTION CHEQUE

4 May 2016

The Iron presented a £2,000 cheque to the Scunthorpe United Community Sports and Education Trust ahead of our home game against Bury on April 19.

As part of the FA Community Shield’s fund distribution from the 2015-16 season, each Club, who participated in the First Round Proper of the previous season’s FA Cup, can nominate local charities to receive an allocation of this fund.

Scunthorpe United Football Club have pledged their support to the SUCSET, who will use the money to sustain their thriving disability programme, in particular the powerchair football sessions ran in partnership with Lincolnshire House.

Receiving the cheque on their behalf was Scott Maxfield, the Head of the Iron’s Community Sports and Education Trust, who has been joined by some of the disability football team and participants on the disability scheme.

Scott said: "On behalf of the trust, we would like to thank the club for their donation. The money will go towards sustaining and expanding our very successful disability programme."
