WISEMAN TO UNDERGO SURGERY

15 March 2016

Iron manager Nick Daws has stated that full-back Scott Wiseman is to undergo surgery on an knee injury which could rule him out for the remainder of the season.

The Gibraltar international last appeared in an Iron shirt as an 84th minute substitute in the goalless draw at Walsall at the start of March.

He's made a total of 29 appearances for the club since joining from Preston North End in the summer, which includes 21 league starts.

Speaking in his pre-Chesterfield press conference, Daws told The Iron PlayerHD: "Scott is going to have an operation to remove a bone growth.

"It's sort of appeared out of nothing - and Chris Burton (physio) has spoken to the consultant about that.

"It's pretty much a standard procedure but because of the invasiveness of the surgery, it will pretty much rule him out for probably the remainder of the season; depending on how long our season lasts.

"It's a blow to us because him and Jordan (Clarke) have been really competitive. It's now up to Jordan to carry on how he's been playing in the last three games without the push or the pressure of Scott Wiseman.

"I'm fully happy and fully secure that he will continue to be one of the best performing full-backs in my opinion."

See much more, including the pre-match thoughts of manager Nick Daws, Luke Williams and Murray Wallace on The Iron PlayerHD from Thursday afternoon.
