MELLON EXPECTS STERN IRON TEST

11 March 2016

Shrewsbury Town manager Micky Mellon has stated he feels the Iron will provide a stern test when they visit Greenhous Meadow on Saturday.

Mellon highlighted the visitors' experience and believes the vast number of games which United players have racked up will mean they'll be sure to threaten his side.

"They’ve got a lot of experienced League One players, that’s something we’ve spoken about a lot," he told Shrews PlayerHD.

"I think when we go to some of these clubs people look at them and go ‘I don’t know him’, but we comb over them and they’ve played maybe 200-300 games in League One."

The Shrews boss also praised the Iron's defensive strengths as well as once again pointing out United's League One experience.

In the reverse fixture back in October, the Iron were 2-1 victors and that's something too which Mellon wants to put right.

"Some players haven’t played that many in their careers so they’re full of experience, so they’ll know the level and what it takes to get results," he said.

"They defend very well and we weren’t as good as them in the second half up at Scunthorpe so we have to continue to show improvement."
