LUER TO MISS GILLS CLASH

3 March 2016

Iron manager Nick Daws has provided a fitness update ahead of the home clash with Gillingham on Saturday.

Daws stated full-back Jordan Clarke, who came off in the midweek encounter with Walsall, will be fine to face the Gills.

However, he revealed forward Greg Luer will miss the weekend's game through injury.

He told The Iron PlayerHD: "Jordan's good, he obviously put a lot into the game and I think it was the type of game where Jordan had to be involved a lot, he was on the front foot and dealt with Milan Lalkovic and Rico Henry really well. But Jordan will be good.

"Greg's going to be out for the game. He's got a laceration to the back of his knee, which required a couple of stitches. So he won't be available for the weekend, which is a pity as he's done really well for us.

"He's a first class finisher and I know in time the goals will come. So we're hoping he'll be back with us for Tuesday night's game (against Doncaster)."

Speaking about Luke Williams' prospects of a return to action from the knock picked up against Southend, he added: "If he's not quite right, then I'm sure he'll be fit and available for the bench. But it's nice to have him back around."

"Luke trained again today, he's building up his fitness and his organisation around the team. So if he's ready to come back in, he'll come back in.
