ELTRINGHAM HANDED WALSALL CLASH

1 March 2016

Geoff Eltringham will be the referee for Tuesday evening’s Sky Bet League One fixture between Walsall and the Iron.

He has already overseen United once this season, when he produced only two yellow cards in a 4-2 victory away at Oldham Athletic in October.

Tuesday’s game at the Banks's Stadium comes just a few days after Kyle Wootton’s dramatic late equaliser rescued a point against Oldham at Glanford Park.

The result means that Nick Daws’ side travel to Walsall in 14th place in the League One table, whilst Walsall sit in the play-off places in 4th.

Referee Eltringham has also been in charge of just the one Walsall game this season, when he once again only produced a couple of yellow cards in a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United.

Overall this season, he has refereed 29 matches and produced 75 yellow cards and just the six red cards.

In the nine League One games he has been in charge of, he has produced just the 19 cautions and a solitary red card, which was given to Shrewbury’s Junior Brown.

On Tuesday evening, Eltringham will be assisted by linesmen James Bell and Danny Gratton with Mark Jones taking the role of fourth official.
