The Iron's academy side were held to a 1-1 draw against Bradford City on Saturday.
Fortunate Sithole netted the equaliser for the side after the hosts had gone one up shortly after the interval, with United almost forcing a winner late on against the team who have been league champions for the past two seasons.
Scunthorpe were forced to reshuffle going into the match through the absense of Riley Baker following a broken ankle, with other injuries also seeing two under-16's start the game for the Iron.
Both teams had chances in the first half, most notably United and Leslie Sackey who broke through the Bantams' defence only to stall in front of goal. The credit went to the home defence though, with numbers quickly getting back to deny the Scunthorpe frontman.
Bradford took the lead on 57 minutes when a free kick to the Iron on the halfway line looked to be turning into an Iron attack. The ball was lost, the hosts broke clear and fired the ball past goalkeeper Joe Parker.
In what was a characteristic response, Scunthorpe had chances to level before they did.
GOAL: Fortunate Sithole netted the equaliser for the Iron in the 1-1 draw against Bradford City.
The goal came though via Sithole after good work from Sackey, who received the ball on the right. Sackey cut inside from there before playing a square ball to Sithole on the edge of the area, which the youngster controlled and fired into the net from 20-yards out.
Academy manager Tony Daws said: "It was a tough game at Bradford and we did well to match them and might be a bit unlucky not to have beaten them.
"On reflection though, a draw was a good result for us. They're in a good area geographically to attract some good players to their football club and we did well to reshuffle following injuries to put in a decent performance against them."
