Following the Iron's first summer recruit, United boss Graham Alexander has vowed to continue to work "extremely hard" to find further quality to add to his side.
Josh Morris joined on a free transfer from Bradford City, penning a three-year deal in a move which sees the midfielder rejoin his former manager, with both previously working together at Fleetwood Town. With one deal over the line, work continues to find the right fit to bolster the squad ahead of the 2016-17 campaign.
"There are a couple of enquiries and discussions ongoing with a couple of individuals, but nothing more than that," he told The Iron PlayerHD.
"It's been difficult for us to find the right profile of player that can improve us. We're not just about adding numbers, we want to add quality and competition to the team and we've done that by signing Josh and if we can get one or two more in of that ilk, I think it can help the players already here.
"Like I've said, I was delighted with the squad I inherited and kept on. We're just trying to fine tune it now and it might take until past the season starting to get the right quality in, but we are working extremely hard to get the right ones."
With many of the Scunthorpe squad currently away on holiday and just under two weeks until they return for pre-season training, the Iron manager has been working hard with his staff to ensure everything is in place for their return.
After speaking to the newest recruit, Alexander is even more eager to get the group back together and begin on-field preparations for the forthcoming season.
"The first signing has whetted my appetite to get back with the players," he continued.
"I haven't seen them for about a month, but this is the business side of it. I'm looking forward to having the players back but they're enjoying and deserve their break following their exertions last season. They'll be ready to come back in and work hard and I'm ready to work hard with them.
"There was a lot of work to be done to plan pre-season and the programmes for next season. We're all constantly in contact for discussions with how we can we can improve things and that work is continuous."
