IRON SUPPORT MUGA OPENING IN WORLABY

27 June 2016

The club have supported a MUGA (multi-use games arena) opening in local village Worlaby.

On the 17th June local MP, Andrew Percy, cut the ribbon to officially open the Children’s Play Area and MUGA.

The ceremony completes a 2 year effort by members of a working group set up in 2014 to oversee the development of the Recreation Ground. The group first concentrated on revitalising the 20 year old tennis courts adjacent to the village hall. This area is now a modern sports and play amenity catering for all ages. Further developments are planned.

Also present at the ceremony were children from Worlaby Early Starters Toddler Group and Worlaby Academy along with a representative from Scunthorpe United Football Club and leader of North Lincolnshire Council, Liz Redfern.

“The new play area is ready just in time for the summer holidays and will be an extra attraction on our Fun Day on 30th July.” said Peter Jones, chair of the working group.

The project was supported by grants from North Lincolnshire Council and the WREN landfill fund.
