Iron assistant club secretary Adam Grice is part of a contingent from the club taking part in the Football to Amsterdam Charity Cycle trek.
Full details can be read here, as Adam and his fellow cyclists look to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK. To sponsor the Iron group, visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/CycleChallengeSUFC.Here is part 1 of Adam's blog detailing the journey:
- We arrived at Barnsley around 7:30am this morning. My dad’s obviously booked the day off work to ferry me about, which was nice, because last year we had to get a train to London, then a tube all the way from King’s Cross to Stratford international, and then there was a walk up to Leyton Orient’s ground.
- We met Mick (Roden), then signed in and registered, before we loaded all our bags onto the bus ahead of the race start.
- We had our briefing around 8 o’clock and the Grand Depart from Oakwell is half past eight. If it’s like last year we’ll be setting off in around groups of 20, 30, 50. However, it all depends on how many are cycling.
- I will be providing you with updates throughout the two days and letting you know of my progress.
