The sweltering heat continued as the Iron entered Monday in their pre-season camp in Obertraun, Austria.
Already at around 24 degrees at 6.30AM when the squad rose for their early morning session. Morning number two, and after a late night watching the EURO 2016 finals, the players took to bikes for their exercise with only four staff members completing a 2.1 mile run - myself included, with Harry Jamieson, Perry Nosek and Nathan Stanton all taking the run. The players and management team cycled a total of six miles ahead of breakfast. I then completed a 2.1 mile bike ride of my own following the run.
Following breakfast, the morning session consisted of more ball drills with the heat reaching a maximum of 33 degrees at one point, although a break shower was a welcome reprieve to cool down the Iron contingent who were again hard at work.

After the dinner break, the side took the the field once more for their afternoon session, which commenced with a competitive game of football tennis and dynamics before the main session got underway. The session ended with a gym session on the pitch which saw the side put through their paces with a number of upper body workouts.

A thunderstorm hit Obertraun soon after the evening meal in weather which saw the mountains disappear behind the rain, with thunderous noise and flashes of lightening filling the sky for around an hour.
9PM local time saw a large number of the side retreat to the seminar room to watch the final of Love Island - I'm told it was the final anyway!
