WE'VE GOT TO WORK HARD THIS WEEK

17 January 2016

Iron captain Stephen Dawson says he can only apologise for the performance which resulted in the loss to Blackpool.

United were beaten 5-0 at Bloomfield Road, and Dawson stated it's vital the Iron bounce back quickly at home to Colchester United next Saturday.

"To the fans which were there today, I can only apologise. However, I know talk is cheap and nothing I say is going to make things better," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"The only positive is we've got a game next week and we move on. We've got to work hard this week.

"But it's disappointing, and hopefully we can put it right next week in front of our home supporters.

"Hopefully as a group of players we can take on board what's just happened to us, and only put it right next Saturday.

"The fans are hurting, the team is hurting and we let everyone down today. We know we did."

Dawson did though praise Kyle Wootton, who came on as a second half substitute in place of Kevin van Veen.

"That was unprofessional and weak all over as a group. The only player who I think can come out of it with any credit was Kyle Wootton," he said.

"I thought he was brilliant when he came on, and I'll give him credit because I think he's the only one who deserves it today."
