Iron addition Conor Townsend is looking forward to impressing in the claret and blue of his new club.

Joining from Hull City, the left-sider who can play in defence and midfield, has signed a two-and-a-half-deal and will be looking to bring the form which saw him win rave reviews on loan at Grimsby Town earlier this season, where he made 12 appearances and scored twice.

“I’m delighted to have signed. It’s been a few weeks in the making but I’m pleased to get it all signed and can’t wait to get started,” he told The Iron PlayerHD.

Townsend is a familiar face to Glanford Park, having made six appearances during a loan spell towards the end of last season.

“I know the gaffer and the majority of the players from last year. The manager called me and said he wanted me to come back. It’s something I wanted to do, so I’m glad it could be done,” he added.

“When I first came in I played a few games and felt I did alright, but we struggled as a team.

“I personally don’t think I did as well as I can do though so I will be looking to rectify that and show what I can do.

“The manager’s told me to work hard, get my head down, see what happens and force my way into the team.”

The 22-year-old arrives in confident mood and believes he can play a part in helping the Iron climb the table between now and the end of the season.

He continued: “It’s been really good at Grimsby. I played some games and I really enjoyed my time there.

“From now, I just want to get in the team and show the fans and manager what I can do, and help us push towards the play-offs.

“The club is moving forward and it’s something I wanted to be part of. It’s good for the club and it will be nice to play at the new stadium when we move.

“I’m feeling really fit, and if I can break into the team and get games that will be great. I’ll just work hard and see what happens.”
