ENGLAND TO REFEREE OLDHAM CLASH

26 February 2016

Darren England will be the referee in charge of Saturday’s fixture with Oldham Athletic at Glanford Park.

The South Yorkshire official has already overseen a Scunthorpe game this season, when he sent off Chesterfield’s Daniel Jones in a 3-0 Iron win.

Nick Daws’ side go into the weekend in 13th position in the Sky Bet League One table with opponents Oldham sitting in the relegation zone in 22nd.

United also are unbeaten in their last four matches at Glanford Park, winning their last two, and could move into the top half if they can make it three in a row on Saturday afternoon.

Referee England, who has produced 77 yellow cards and six red cards in 21 games this season, has never been the man in the middle for an Oldham game and he has also never refereed at Glanford Park.

This will be his seventh League One fixture of the season and comes a week after he produced his latest red card, to Morecambe’s Andy Fleming.

The last time these two sides met was in October with the Iron winning a six goal thriller 4-2, thanks to second half goals from Kevin van Veen and Paddy Madden.

England will be assisted by Barry Gordon and Ian Smedley with Declan Bourne taking the role of fourth official.
