Hakeeb Adelakun scored the equaliser as United's development side drew 1-1 away at their Rotherham counterparts.

Kyle Wootton got the Iron off to a lively start at Parkgate, receiving the ball on the right before driving at the defence and forcing a parried save from the goalkeeper.

Soon after, Sean McAllister and trialist Aaron Mitchell combined before an effort went over the crossbar.

The hosts' Jerry Yates headed wide from six yards after a good right-winged cross in the eighth minute.

Two minutes later, Andrew Shinnie dragged an effort wide for Rotherham from the edge of the area.

Iron shotstopper Joe Parker was drawn into a great save moments later as Shinnie's effort from three yards tested him with a quick reactionary stop.

With 20 minutes on the clock, Shinnie hit the bar for Rotherham after a sharp turn in the area to rifle the shot goalwards.

Parker was then drawn into another terrific save four minutes later, as he tipped a high shot from Shinnie over the bar from point-blank range.

On 28 minutes, the Iron's Levi Sutton found space on the left to fire in a cross for Wootton, whose effort was blocked away.

After a fine reflex save from Parker on 38 minutes, Sutton sidefooted over the bar three minutes later after Wootton held the ball up in the area before laying the ball off to him.

Adelakun then forced a save from the home goalkeeper as he drove down the right and fired an effort goalwards.

Yates broke the deadlock for Rotherham on 50 minutes, after Buxton strode forward with the goalscorer sweeping the ball home from close range.

On 57 minutes, Belaïd then fired over the bar for the hosts after he found space on the edge of the area.

Adelakun drew the Iron level just two minutes later though. The winger fired home after Wootton found him on the right. He out skilled the defender before nestling a low shot into the net.

There was another fine save from Parker in the 66th minute. Shinnie was in on the right and his shot across goal drew a fingertip save.

Three minutes later, Wootton stung the palms of Cairns as he was forced to beat away a shot from 20 yards destined for the corner.

In the 75th minute, Parker did well to save and hold a long range drilled effort from Emmanuel Ledesma.

There was a final Iron flurry towards the end. On 91 minutes, there was a brilliant save from Cairns as Adelakun squared for Dyche with his low shot saved.

Then, just a minute later, Adelakun drove a cross into the area, but Cairns again did well to stick out a foot.
