CLUB STATEMENT: DAWS APPOINTED IRON MANAGER

22 February 2016

The club can confirm the appointment of Nick Daws as manager of Scunthorpe United until the end of the season.

Andy Dawson has been installed as the 45-year-old's number two going forward after a run of four straight victories and only one defeat since taking over from Mark Robins and Ned Kelly in mid-January.

Chairman Peter Swann said: "We've seen what they've done over the period they've been in charge and we have been impressed. They've worked very hard and the players are responding to them and we thought it was really important we kept that in tact and it gives us a chance to still reach the play-offs.

"We've seen a natural course of events, with Nick leading the way with plenty of support from Andy and I think as a duo they work very well together. As a football club, we need somebody to lead the team forward as a manager and between them they are very happy in this situation.

"Andy has been at the club since I've been here and he's improved every year. They're both going to give us everything they've got.

"I've told them to go out there, play with freedom and try to win as many matches as possible. That's the only way that we'll get into the play-offs and they both certainly know how to win football matches.

"They're now fully focused on preparing the team for the home match against Oldham Athletic and I'm really looking forward to the weekend. The football we've played in recent weeks has been excellent and I can only see that improving."
