EXPECTING A TOUGH, PHYSICAL BATTLE

16 December 2016

United striker Tom Hopper believes it’s important to bounce back quickly, and turn in a positive display at Glanford Park against Millwall this Saturday.

Hopper insists no-one wants a repeat of what happened last week at Rochdale, and stated three points is the aim in the encounter with the Lions.

Hopper said, speaking to The Iron PlayerHD: “We’ve been knuckling down again this week.

“We’re looking to have a reaction to last Saturday, so we’re working hard, and putting things in place to get a result against Millwall.

“The games have been coming thick and fast in the past few weeks.

“It’s going to get busy now over Christmas and New Year. We’ll use the time to our advantage hopefully, and work hard.”

The 23-year-old is expecting an intense battle though, against a side who he says will be very hard to beat.

“They’ll be a tough, physical side,”he stated.

“When we’ve played them in the past they’ve always been physical. They’ll be hard-working, and they’ll be looking to put things right themselves.

“It’ll be a tough game, but we’ll have to match them physically, and hopefully our quality will shine through.

“We’ll prepare right, nullify their threats, use our own to our advantage, and hopefully get a result.”

A reaction is something the forward is confident of, given the past performances which have been delivered following disappointing results.

Dwelling on a negative, Hopper states, isn’t part of the squad’s makeup, with him reiterating that the response is the most important.

“It was disappointing. We expect a lot more from ourselves, and we were all gutted with the result,”Hopper explained.

“However, it’s something we have to move on from - we can’t keep looking back. We have to push on, and we’re fully focused on Saturday.

“I’ve always said that we move on well, whether we win or lose. That’s what we’ve done this week, and we’ve been trying to put right a few things we need to improve on.”
