After two matches on the road, the Iron return to Glanford Park on Saturday, when they take on Gillingham.
They’ll return in a buoyant mood too, especially with Tuesday night’s superb victory away at AFC Wimbledon behind them.
It’ll be a tough test for Graham Alexander’s men though, as the Gills have themselves made an impressive start to the new campaign, sitting in 3rd place.
Paddy Madden and Jamie Ness both continue to miss out for United as both recover from calf injuries, although both are recovering well according to manager Graham Alexander.
Midfielder Luke Williams was withdrawn at half time of the 2-1 victory at AFC Wimbledon following a harsh tackle, but the Scunthorpe manager doesn’t yet know the seriousness of the injury which the midfielder suffered.
Meanwhile the Iron will have Kevin van Veen in contention for the game following a family bereavement. The Dutchman learned the news on Monday and featured for the club on Tuesday before returning home on Wednesday. Despite this, Alexander expects van Veen to be fully prepared ahead of Gillingham's visit.
The sides last met in March of this year, with United dominating for the vast majority of the game at Glanford Park.
The game would ultimately finish 0-0, that’s after Paddy Madden had gone mightily close on a number of occasions throughout the ninety minutes.
