GOING THERE WITH CONFIDENCE

18 September 2015

Iron boss Mark Robins hopes his side can continue to play with confidence going into their trip to Rochdale on Saturday.

United defeated high-flying Coventry City at the weekend and the United manager was keen for his side to build on the victory.

Robins told The Iron PlayerHD: “It has done their confidence the world of good. We want to try and get back-to-back wins, but we know it will be difficult.

“Rochdale have had a good start to the season, and if we win we go on the same amount of points as them.

“We can't rest on our laurels and need to try to get back-to-back wins, which we haven't managed to do in a while.

“They will try and stop us, and have good players. We've not won away from home yet, although we've been close a few times.

“For us, it is about going there and putting on a decent performance that we can build on.

“We look at all sorts of things before a game like what we can do to hurt them, and also what they could do to hurt us.

“We just have to go there and keep the confidence levels up, and do the things that give us the best opportunity to win.”

The Iron will be up against a strong Rochdale side that has made a good start to the season, which sees them sit sixth in the League One table.

Robins was confident of stifling any potential threats his side could come up against, while he also hoped his side would have the quality at the other end of the pitch.

He said: “They have got good players that have been with them for a few years, so we know what they are capable of doing.

“There is not a great deal of difference between a lot of the teams at this level so it's just that little bit of quality that can be the difference.

“We have to find out what makes us tick and will give us the win. We've won two games with around 45% possession, yet lost others where we have had more of the ball.

“Ultimately, if you are good in both boxes you will stand a good chance of winning.”

He added: “We hope to go there with a near full strength team. Stephen Dawson is still out and won't make the game, and obviously Luke (Williams) and Niall (Canavan) are still out, but we hope everyone else will be in contention.”
