DANIELS LOOKS TO PUT A RUN TOGETHER

18 September 2015

United goalkeeper Luke Daniels says the squad will know exactly what to expect when they take on Rochdale this Saturday.

"When we went there last year (eventually losing 3-1) it was a tough game. We're expecting more of the same really in terms of how they go about their business," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"Keith Hill's sides are always physical and hard-working, so we know exactly what to expect. Hopefully we can go there and put in a positive display and a good result."

During Daniels' absence from the side through suspension, Joe Anyon deputised and the former West Bromwich Albion man feels Anyon performed well in his absence.

Daniels had to wait a little while for his return and said not being in the side was difficult at times, but he is pleased to be back now and is aiming to build on last Saturday’s clean sheet from the 1-0 home win over Coventry City.

"It's been difficult not being in the side but it's good to get back in and, with the clean sheet, it helps," he said.

"Joe did really well, which I think everyone at the club expected him to do. So there was no real surprise for us."

Daniels says the squad were disappointed to suffer defeat in the manner that they did against Blackpool, but feels it was good to get back to winning ways last weekend against Coventry.

"We were disappointed with the Blackpool performance, we know we let ourselves down. So it was good to get back at it last weekend and put in a good performance to show people what we can really do," he continued.

Should United secure victory on Saturday, it would be the first time this season that they've achieved back-to-back wins.

This is something which the ‘stopper feels is vital for the squad's ambitions this season.

"If you're going to get in and around the top end of the league, it's what you've got to do," he stated.

"You've got to start stringing results together and going on unbeaten runs.

"We know that's what we need to do, so hopefully we can continue that on Saturday."
