Iron striker Paddy Madden feels Saturday's win against Fleetwood Town was big for the squad and they'll look to build on the victory in next weekend's game away at Oldham Athletic.
Madden felt it was always going to be a tough game against a Cod Army side who were coming off the back of a big loss previously. However, he says the team dealt with the challenge well."It's a big three points and we'll look to build on that for next week now," he told The Iron PlayerHD.
"It was always going to be a tough game, Fleetwood obviously were coming off the back of a big loss against Gillingham and they were always going to make it hard for us.
"We had to show a bit of patience, they sat back, as most teams do in this division do after a heavy loss."
The Irishman broke the deadlock 68 minutes into the game and he stated that every goal that he manages to get is good for his confidence.
However, the United frontman insisted that getting back to winning ways was the most crucial thing.
"Every goal is good for my confidence but the important thing was that we got the three points today," he stated.
"We're slowly climbing up the table, but we just all have to stick together and we'll be alright."
Madden highlighted that the win must be backed up by another next week if progress is to be made this season.
"We can't win a game, and then sit off and lose two. We've got to show a bit more character out on the pitch and a bit more pride," he insisted.
"It's not always down to the gaffer and Ned, it's down to us and it's down to us when we cross that line to show pride, and that win today was for the gaffer."
