Scott Wiseman says the squad is on a high after three straight victories.
The defender has started all three of United’s wins in October, with the most recent being Saturday’s 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town.Scott feels that the team are starting to justify the confidence that they all had since the start of the season.
He told The Iron PlayerHD: “We’re feeling brilliant this week and the lads are all buzzing. We’ve started showing what we knew was in us all along and what we’ve all been talking about. It’s nice for us to now be backing our own words up.
“Everybody is enjoying training, like we have been all season, but it just makes it that little bit easier when the wins are coming with it.”
Saturday’s win at Glanford Park, thanks to goals from Paddy Madden and Scott Laird, moved United into the top half of the League One table.
Tuesday night’s match away at Gillingham gives Scott and his team mates an opportunity to make it consecutive away wins, following the 4-2 success away at Oldham Athletic in their last fixture on the road.
When asked if the squad were travelling to the league leaders Gillingham with any fear, Scott replied: “There’s nothing to fear from anybody in this league! There are no massive teams that are going to run away with it and it’s up for anybody that wants to put their stamp on it.”
The Gibraltar international has also commended the squad’s resilience after coming from behind in the wins over Shrewsbury and Oldham.
He added, “When you are struggling for confidence, the wins don’t come easily so you have to battle that little bit harder. Fortunately for us we have got a lot of character in the team and a lot of mental toughness so for us to come back from behind in two of the games is fantastic.
“The performances have got stronger with the results we’ve had. You only have to look at how well we played in the second half on Saturday and hopefully we can carry that on for the rest of the season.
“The fact that the team is winning is great and the fact that I am in the team also makes it that little bit nicer for me.”
