ROWE KEEN TO MAKE HIS MARK FOR THE IRON

6 October 2015

New Iron loan signing Tommy Rowe was happy to get through his first proper match in 18 months, while also being part of a vital win for the team.

United defeated Fleetwood Town 1-0 at Glanford Park on Saturday through a second-half strike by Paddy Madden, with the visitors failing to find a response to Madden’s opener.

Rowe told The Iron PlayerHD he thoroughly enjoyed getting back out onto the pitch.

“I’m happy to get through it today, and I’ve really enjoyed it with it being my first proper game in ten months, and I especially enjoyed getting the win," he said.

“I’ve got loads more to give, and the sort of energy that I’ve carried all the way through my career will come. I just can’t wait to go again next week.”

The loanee said he couldn’t believe the positive atmosphere around the Iron dressing room when he arrived, considering the league position the club were in.

“I looked at the league position when I came in I expected doom and gloom to be fair, and came in and everything was as it should be," he said.

“The Gaffer (Mark Robins) is brilliant and since I’ve met him he’s a really positive man. There’s better to come because of the belief and confidence from today.”

Having failed to make a mark on his parent club Wolves’ team, Rowe is hoping to make as many appearances as he can throughout his one-month loan spell.

“It was a torrid time for me for six-to-seven months with not getting the games I’ve wanted to when I was fit.

“I’m just happy to be playing and there’s only more to come from me. I just want to keep progressing and keep on getting better. Hopefully we can keep winning games while I am here.

“I’m very competitive, I have great energy and I like to get goals. Probably towards the end of today I pulled back a bit due to the tiredness.”

Rowe believes that once the club get another win or two under their belt, the team will really show what they’re made of.

He stated: “I’m glad I got the couple of days training before the game to meet the lads, and they’ve made me feel welcome. As soon as we start getting wins back-to-back the belief will start running through the team even more.”
