Brand new networking events given backing by Council Leader

The Iron Business Network has been set up by the commercial team at Scunthorpe United Football Club with the aim of linking commercial partners with the local business community through a series of regular networking events.

These will facilitate and help accelerate the development of informal and potentially rewarding business relationships with like-minded individuals that have an emotional connection with the football club and the local community across North Lincolnshire and beyond.

Head of Commercial at Scunthorpe United Football Club, Martin Ellis, commented: “The football club plays a significant role in the local community and we want to help support businesses in the area by bringing them closer together on a more regular basis.”

The business networking events have been backed by Cllr Liz Redfern, Leader of North Lincolnshire Council, who said: “The economy in North Lincolnshire relies on great partnership working between organisations in order to grow, which is why we are always looking at different ways to improve and strengthen these relationships. As soon as we heard about these business networking events, we agreed to give our full support.

“They are a fantastic opportunity for businesses across North Lincolnshire to come together and find ways of supporting each other. Scunthorpe United Football Club is making a huge investment in North Lincolnshire which is fantastic for the area. It is wonderful that they are also looking to support other businesses as well.”

The first event has been confirmed as a breakfast networking event on Wednesday 28th October at Scunthorpe United’s Glanford Park Stadium (8.00am to 10.00am). Entry will be £10 per person which will include a choice of hot breakfast rolls, pastries, refreshments and entry into a special prize draw.
