WILLIAMS BOOSTED BY BURY WIN

26 November 2015

Iron attacker Luke Williams says the away victory at Bury will give the squad a big boost ahead of Saturday's home clash with Peterborough.

Williams highlighted what a tough test the Shakers provided, but he feels everyone in the squad will benefit hugely from the win.

"It's massive, it's a massive confidence boost for the lads. To come here on a Tuesday night, when it's cold, wet and to come away with the three points is going to be massive for us going into Saturday," he told The Iron PlayerHD.

"It was a tough game. The way they play, they're direct, they're physical and they're good at what they do, but the lads held firm and we came out on top in the end."

The midfielder scored the winner for the Iron with a superb free-kick, four minutes from time, and he says a goal like that has been long overdue.

He also spoke of how pleased he was to be back in the first team fold, and he stated the goal and an impressive display has been in the offing.

"I had a lot of free-kicks in training and not many went in, so I think it was about time one of them did," he said.

"Some of the lads were asking if I was going to cross it in, but I told them no and it paid off luckily.

"I'm happy and I think it's been coming. My substitute appearances have helped me get there with my fitness and the minutes on the pitch I've needed."

Speaking about Saturday's home game against Peterborough, he added: "It's another big game, they are a side that are in and around us and it's going to be massive for us. But we couldn't have had much better preparation after tonight really."
