Leslie Sackey scored the only goal of the game as the Iron’s U18 side beat Oldham Athletic 1-0 away from home.
He slotted in to give his side all three points, building on their FA Youth Cup victory just four days before. They had to overcome the Latics without Lewis Butroid and Jack Dyche, who were both at Glanford Park with the first team squad - the latter of whom was on the bench.
The goalkeeper was beaten as the youngster side-footed the ball into the net.
Sackey’s goal came following a ball down the right channel. The first year scholar was in on goal after a slight mix-up which resulted in a short backpass.

Noel Burdett also had chances to extend the Iron’s lead, twice going one-on-one with the Latics’ shotstopper only to be denied by fine saves.
It could have been a different story though had the hosts taken their early chance inside twenty minutes when Oldham hit the post.
Academy manager Tony Daws said: “It was a very good performance and a very good result and the lads did really well and worked hard.
