NOMINATION DOWN TO A LOT OF PEOPLE

5 November 2015

Iron manager Mark Robins said his manager of the month nomination is “for everybody” after an October which saw United win five from six.

The Scunthorpe boss has been nominated along with Gary Caldwell (Wigan Athletic), Phil Parkinson (Bradford City) and Dean Saunders (Chesterfield).

October saw the team rise from the relegation zone, hitting ninth position – just four points off the play-offs.

“It’s absolutely brilliant (to be nominated), because you don’t win anything on your own,” he told The Iron PlayerHD.

“First and foremost, there’s the Chairman. There are ups and downs (in football) and it’s testament to him because I can’t do the job without his support.

“Secondly it’s the supporters and they’ve been fantastic. That’s why we have the 12th Man and they have been brilliant.

“If we are all in it together, it makes a massive difference and this month (October) has been different.

"We managed to get some positive results and things have snowballed from there.

"The staff and the players have been phenomenal and they’ve turned things round.

“There are one or two who have gone through hard times at the start of the season. Expectations were fairly high and we were trying to live up to those. We didn’t quite manage it in the first period, but we’ve got ourselves in a reasonable position where we can focus and really kick on.

“We’ve got to continue to do it together – any award that comes my way for that is lovely, but it’s lovely for the reasons I’ve just outlined. We’re all in it together and the award will be for everybody.”

The winner of the award will be announced at 6am on Friday, November 6.
