IRON SIGN SCOTT WISEMAN

28 May 2015

The Iron have signed Preston North End defender Scott Wiseman on a free transfer.

He pens a two-year deal and his United contract will officially start on July 1.

Wiseman becomes our third signing of the summer, joining ex-PNE team-mate Jack King and Rochdale midfielder Stephen Dawson in arriving at North Lincolnshire.

The Lilywhites swooped to sign Wiseman following his release from Barnsley in January 2014.

A Gibraltan international who has made six appearances for his country, he came through the ranks at hometown club Hull City, making his first team debut against Kidderminster Harriers in the 2003/04 season.

Following loan spells at numerous Football League clubs, the full back, who can also play in midfield, signed for Darlington on a permanent transfer in 2007.

However, after just nine appearances for the Quakers, Wiseman was released and picked up on a free transfer by Rochdale, where he spent the next three years.

In 2011, the defender signed for Barnsley and immediately impressed with his blistering pace and comfort on the ball.

Wiseman continued to improve at Barnsley and played a key role as the Tykes avoided relegation to League One in 2012/13.

Just seven months later the defender was released by the club and, despite offers from Championship sides, Wiseman signed for Preston.

He made his debut for the Lilywhites against Wolverhampton Wanderers in a 2-0 and featured regularly under Simon Grayson for the remainder of the 2013/14 season.

Last season, he made 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice, as Preston won promotion to the Championship.
