The Iron have completed the signing of Preston North End's Jack King.
The 29-year-old is capable of playing in defence, midfield and attack, and signs a two-year deal, which will begin when his Lilywhites contract expires at the end of June.He becomes our second signing of the summer, following Stephen Dawson in arriving at Glanford Park.
King departs Deepdale, having made 104 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals in four years.
He started his career at Swansea City in 2003, but left the Liberty Stadium without ever making an appearance for the Swans.
After a season at Brackley, the midfielder joined Didcot Town in 2005, where he was part of the side that won the Hellenic Football League in his first season at the club. Didcot secured promotion again in King’s final season at the club, when they won the Southern Football League Division One South & West Play-Offs in 2008/09.
After securing promotion to the Southern Premier Division with Didcot, King soon moved to rivals Farnborough.
Narrowly missing out on promotion to the Blue Square Bet South division the season before, King was the missing piece of the jigsaw for Farnborough, as he played a vital role in their successful push for promotion in 2009/10, scoring 11 times in 40 games, as they ended the season as Southern League Premier League Winners.
Farnborough nearly made it back-to-back promotions in 2010/11. The versatile player again playing a prominent role, scoring 12 times in 42 appearances, as Farnborough made it to the Play-Off Final, but they were unlucky to lose to Ebbsfleet United.
King joined Woking at the start of the 2011/12 season, in a season that would see his new side win promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier as champions. He again played a pivotal role as he scored 12 times in 43 games to end the season with yet another winners’ medal.
He moved to North End in the summer of 2012, admitting it is a dream come true to play full time, and made the step up to League One with ease, establishing himself in the spine of the North End starting line-up and performing in a number of positions.
