ANYON SIGNS TWO-YEAR DEAL

12 May 2015

Goalkeeper Joe Anyon has agreed to extend his stay with the Iron; signing a two-year deal with the club.

The former Port Vale trainee was brought in alongside Luke Daniels in January after the double injury to both Sam Slocombe and James Severn in a 2-0 home defeat to Bristol City - which forced centre-half Andrew Boyce to cover in goal for around 55 minutes.

Joe made over a century of appearances for the Valiants before he moved to Lincoln City on a Bosman free transfer in July 2010, where he would make 59 league appearances in two seasons with the club. During that time, he enjoyed a four game loan spell at Morecambe between March and May in 2011.

He then joined Shrewsbury Town in 2012, spending two seasons there, while also going out on loan to Macclesfield Town.

The shotstopper was released by the Shrews at the end of the 2013-14 season, with the Iron bringing him in on a short-term contract to the end of the season on January 25, 2015.

Following the end of the campaign, it was announced that the club would speak to Joe and his representatives and we are delighted to announce that both parties have come to an agreement ahead of the 2015-16 campaign. His new deal will run until June 2017.
