12TH MAN CHRIS CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON TO START

29 May 2015

Following us while living away from Scunthorpe for many years, including stints living abroad, has never been a problem for Iron fan Chris Walker.

He has signed up to be a 12th Man member for next season.

He stated: “I’ve lived and worked in many places in both England and abroad, and I’ve always kept my eye on the results, and when I was able to get to a game - I’d go.”

But it’s not so easy to get to games when you’re teaching out in Africa, which Chris did for five years in total.

He said: “I worked as a Maths teacher in Zimbabwe through VSO, and Botswana was done through the British council. I spent around two and a half years in both countries, and I still followed the Iron – You’ve got to, wherever you go.”

The 12th Man initiative has many exciting exclusives, which were previously unavailable to season ticket holders.

Members will receive a free matchday programme to every league home match, while they will also receive an exclusive pre-match email from manager Mark Robins.

Access to all home league games, and priority tickets for cup games are included. Refunds will be issued to members who have travelled on the club's coaches and bought a match ticket to away games, should the match be postponed.

The 12th Man private Twitter account has also been created to give members access to the Iron’s latest news before it goes out to the general public, on our official account.

Not forgetting one of the biggest incentives to sign up – The chance to pick your seat ready for the move into the new stadium at the start of the 2016/17 season.

Excited about the new stadium, and impressed with what the 12th Man package has to offer, Chris said: “The new stadium looks excellent, and particularly being able to choose your seat.

"I really like the thought of being able to choose where I sit. I’ve seen the pictures and a map of the layout of where it is going to be. It all looks good.”

Chris was happy with the Iron’s first summer signing of Stephen Dawson, and was hopeful of the quality, which is next to come through the door.

He stated: “I was very much happy with the signing. Everyone that went to Rochdale seemed to have the impression that he was really good against us.

"I think we’ll have a good year next season if we can sign some of the names we are being linked with.”

It won’t just be Chris who is joining the 12th Man package. He and his son will be joining, and travelling together from Bradford for the games: “It’s myself and my thirteen-year-old son who have signed up, and we are going to get back to as many games as we possibly can next season from Bradford, and the away ones too.”

Chris urged other fans to follow in his footsteps and sign up for the 12th Man too: “It’s a great opportunity with the new stadium coming up which is a big plus for what the 12th man has to offer.”
