Mark Robins reluctantly admitted that Sheffield United were “far better” than his side on the night as Scunthorpe struggled to handle their opposition, going down 4-0 at Bramall Lane.

The boss spoke to The Iron Player post-match with his initial assessment.

“That was probably the best I’ve seen Sheffield United play for a long time,” Robins said.

“The tempo was lightning and we found it very difficult to try and get close to them. You’ve got to give them credit.

“That was like a Championship performance from them and it was just too much for us to handle on the day. But, there were elements of the game where we’d done pretty well.

“We just couldn’t sustain it to get a foothold in the game to get anywhere near their goal. You’ve got to take your hat off to them.

“You don’t like saying that the opposition were far better than you, but they were on Tuesday night.”
