STAY COOL AND CALM

24 March 2015

United manager Mark Robins has confirmed there are a few niggling injuries following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Rochdale.

He is, however, hopeful that the victims of such knocks will be fit to face Sheffield United on Tuesday evening.

“We’ve got a few niggles,” he confirmed to The Iron Player.

“There are one or two that we’ve got to run the rule over before Tuesday but apart from that, there’s nothing new to declare. We’ve got to wait and see and give them as much time as we possibly can.

“We’ve got quite a young group, but we’ve had some decent performances from some of the younger members of our squad. There’s one or two who have done themselves no harm and hopefully they’ll get further chances. That’s how you make players obviously.

“We’ve got to get a balance though because of the time of the season we are at and in terms of the number of points we have on the board. With ten games to go, we’ve got to seriously look at picking some points up."

Looking forward, Robins has told his players to play with no fear and take one game at a time to ensure the points are accumulated as quickly as possible.

“We’ve got to stay cool and calm and make sure that the decisions that we make are the right ones,” he continued.

“Some of the decisions that were made on the field at the weekend were the wrong ones at the wrong time.

"We got ourselves back level on Saturday with a really good goal and then within a minute we have gone and conceded another goal whereas we need to consolidate with some of the decision making, some of the carelessness and touches that have blighted us of late and have cost us dearly.

“We’ve got to cut that out as much as we possibly can do and get back to where we were. It’ll be a tough place to go.”
