Midfielder Isaiah Osbourne has called on his side to bounce back from the weekend’s defeat.
The Iron take on Sheffield United on Tuesday at Bramall Lane with the former Aston Villa and Blackpool player stating there’s no better time to mount a new run of form.“It’s important that we bounce back,” Osbourne told The Iron Player.
“Because of the position we find ourselves in now, it’s important that we go out on Tuesday and try to get the win and the three points.
“As a player, after a defeat you want the game to come sooner rather than later to put it right. A few weeks back we were looking up and at the moment we’ve had a few bad results. We want to get up the table as quickly as possible.
“Everyone has to be mentally strong and the gaffer has told us we have to play with no fear.”
The team will be out to thwart the Blades’ play-off push and while both teams will be under pressure to pick up the points, Osbourne feels that the onus and expectation will be on the hosts to triumph, thus adding more pressure their way.
“Sheffield United are under a bit of pressure themselves at the moment,” he continued.
“We’ve got a good enough squad with the right attributes to go down there and get a result. We only played them ten days ago so we know what they’re about. They’re a team that like to pass the ball. They then went a bit direct towards the end of the game, but we won’t know exactly what they’re doing until on Tuesday.
“I know what it’s like to be down at the wrong end of the table when I was with Blackpool and we only just scraped safety. Previously Ned (Kelly) and myself were in one at Nottingham Forest, so I know what it takes to get out of this situation.
He added: “We’ve got all the qualities; we just need to be mentally strong to get out of it. We have to play our normal game without fear.”
