IRON 7/5 FAVOURITES AT NOTTS COUNTY

27 March 2015

The Iron make the trip to the Meadow Lane on Saturday just two places and one point above hosts Notts County, and are priced as the favourites in this fixture at 7/5.

The hosts are without a win in their last four league games and have only won two of their last 13 matches, a run which proved costly for manager Shaun Derry who was relieved of his duties earlier this week.

Their most recent home victory came over two months ago on January 17th, when they defeated Crewe Alexandra 2-1, and as a result are priced as outsiders this weekend with odds of a home win at 9/5 with SkyBet, the sponsors of the Football League. The price for a draw comes in at 12/5.

Paul Hart takes temporary charge of the Magpies, who currently lie in 20th place, and a matter of goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone, while Scunthorpe United lie in 18th. The Iron are without a win in their last eight games, with a heavy 4-0 defeat on Tuesday night at Sheffield United preventing them from climbing the table, while County too were resoundingly beaten back on Saturday, when they lost 4-1 away at MK Dons.

Notts County have won both clashes between the two sides so far this season, registering both League and JPT cup victories at Glanford Park before Christmas, but the pair haven’t met at Meadow Lane since March 2013, when a Dean Leacock goal gave the home side all three points. The price of a repeat scoreline is at 8/1.

Dutch centre forward Kevin van Veen was only a substitute at Bramall Lane midweek but both started and scored at Rochdale last weekend, taking his goal with fine precision and skill. SkyBet have decided to place a 13/2 price on the head of the former FC Oss striker to score the game’s first goal, while he’s at 2/1 to score anytime. Could he break the deadlock?

Paddy Madden will be looking to both get back on the score-sheet and add to his tally of 15 goals in all tournaments this season, and the odds of him doing it on Saturday are at a very respectful 11/2 to notch first in the game, and 6/4 to score during the 90 minutes. Hakeeb Adelakun too has been amongst the goals recently too, scoring a crucial goal against Yeovil and being handed a starting spot at Sheffield United a few days ago, and if you think he can grab a goal on Saturday, SkyBet have him at 10/1 to score first, while being 7/2 to bag at any point during the match.

Sky Bet are also offering match specials for this fixture. They have Scunthorpe to score two or more in the first half at 13/2, while they are at 13/2 to score in the first ten minutes. On the other side they have Notts County to score two or more in the first half at 15/2, and for the hosts to score in the first 10 minutes at 7/1.
