CONFIDENCE HIGH AHEAD OF MAGPIES TRIP

27 March 2015

Confidence remains high in the camp, insists Iron boss Mark Robins ahead of Saturday’s trip to Notts County.

The United boss has faith in his players and feels it was only a matter of time before form picked up again.

Robins told The Iron Player: “The confidence in the squad is very good. Nobody likes losing or to be beaten by anybody, but it is part and parcel of the game, and it's how you react and come back from it.

“We've got nine games left and the other eight don't matter, it's the one that is coming up on Saturday. We've had a sticky spell in terms of picking points up, but we've actually performed okay.

“We've just got to relax when it comes to taking chances that come our way and that will turn around and I'm sure it'll be sooner rather than later.”

The Iron boss expects a tough run in, but has called on his players to continue to give their all for the club and they will get the results to match.

He said: “All I've said since I've come in is if everyone gives me one hundred percent and that has been the case. If they continue to give me one percent, you can't ask for any more than that.

“They gave me that the other night, but there were times we could've been better in possession of the ball and kept control of the ball a bit more.

“We didn't do that and that was a mixture of their good play and sometimes our lack of confidence because of the way they were playing against us.

“We've got to do it ourselves and we can use it as a benchmark because there were a lot of good things to take from it.”

The Iron boss felt the side have shown on numerous occasions this season that they have the quality to beat anyone else in League One and felt his team could take heart from that.

Robins said: “We are capable of winning enough football matches to stay in this division. Whatever happens, you've got to be disappointed because we could've been so much closer to those play-offs this year.

“Only a couple of weeks ago we were talking about, if we win two more games, we would've been in and among that.

“Unfortunately, that wasn't to be and we've missed some games and you play catch up and things change around.

“We've got a good enough group of players and that elusive win is just around the corner, I'm absolutely positive of that.”
