United defender Jack King says it's good to get back out on the pitch.

The Iron's 4-0 victory over Hartlepool was their first game back on English soil since the pre-season training camp in Marbella last week.

"You can do as much training as you want, but it's good to back out on the pitch and get more minutes," he said.

Mark Robins' men dominated at Victoria Park and deservedly ran out comfortable winners, which in turn meant a clean sheet for a defence that King was involved in.

He stated: "I'm playing at the back so we're looking to keep clean sheets, we conceded late on against Middlesborough which was disappointing, but it's nice to be solid at the back."

"I've played another 70 minutes, so the more minutes you get under your belt at this stage will stand you in good stead for the rest of the season."

The Iron returned from their pre-season camp in Marbella recently, and drew 1-1 with Championship side Middlesborough during the trip, something which King is pleased with.

"We've all fitted in really quickly, it's a great set of lads," he added.

"The team spirit is there for all to see and obviously trips like Marbella are always going to help, but it's looking good so far".

"When you're together 24/7, you don't realise the amount of bonding that goes on. It's really good that the club have been able to send us out there and that should stand us in good stead for the weeks coming," he explained.

United face another Championship test on Friday night as Bolton Wanderers visit Glanford Park and King is looking forward to it.

"It'll be nice to get out there," he stated.

"We're two or three weeks into pre-season and we've not played there yet, so it'll be good to face a stern test against a good side.

"We can get in front of the home fans and show them what we're all about."
