The first of our 12th Man deliveries saw Iron chairman Peter Swann journey to see Patricia Lodge ahead of the new season.

He spent nearly an hour in her and her husband Stuart’s company ahead of Friday’s 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers, with Patricia able to embrace the moment and ask any questions – along with a good conversation about all things football.

The visit also included the presentation of her 12th Man package, including her tickets, contract and welcome letter. She won the visit after buying her package on an advertised Saturday during the early-bird renewal stage, with Patricia purchasing her package on that day to be entered into the draw.

Following the visit, Patricia said: “It was truly a pleasure and a very pleasant experience.”

Meanwhile, Mr Swann spoke about the importance of such a visit: “I think it’s fantastic.

“Obviously, it would be nice to do every single one of them, but it’s nice to be able to get out here to a Scunthorpe fan who really has Scunthorpe United in her heart. It’s great to get into the community and do something like this.

“We’re going to start to improve things within the club and this is one of them; which is fantastic. We’ll continue to do that and what we hope now is to draw more interest on the pitch and we know that’s where we will need to make it happen. If we can, we will hopefully bring in some more season ticket holders.

“I love talking to people about Scunthorpe United. It’s my passion and it’s their passion. Combine the two together and we should be alright.”

The visit to Patricia was the first of four 12th Man deliveries, with three more supporters receiving theirs from players at a later date.
